Kisasa FC’s third loss of the season was a difficult 4-1 defeat against a physical Ligi Ndogo side in a match that tested the team’s resilience and character. With a number of players unavailable through injury and otherwise, the team’s lack of depth played a role in the loss.
After struggling to match the opposition’s size and intensity in the early stages, Kisasa FC gradually settled into the game and began to showcase their technical quality. The boys grew in confidence as the match progressed, creating several promising opportunities through sustained pressure and intelligent movement. The second half looked promising, but the damage done left too much ground to make up in the 45 minutes.
Brian, leading a determined but ultimately outmuscled charge, came close from a set-piece as Kisasa searched for a way back into the contest. Oti was also present at the heart of many attacking moments, forcing defensive errors and demonstrating the closest chance of the game from a decisive run and dividing pass, while Crispin produced a moment of individual brilliance to win a dangerous free kick. Signs of intelligent play are evident; through balls connecting with attackers dropping off the shoulder of their markers, runs which in the first half were mostly offside now catching the Ligi Ndogo side out time and time again.
Though the second half’s recovered composure could not win the game, despite the scoreline, the second half was a completely different demonstration from the first, and Kisasa FC’s composed and determined performance conceded only one goal in the second half. With the team pressing effectively, combining well in possession, and creating chances against a strong opponent, the boys could have gotten back into it had more time been left on the clock.
The match offered valuable lessons as the team continues to develop its identity and style of play. The Diamond Youth Football League continues next week, as Kisasa FC takes on Blue Bombers on the 7th of June at 11:30am kick-off.
