Kisasa FC’s final pre-season friendly came under shifting skies, rain easing into a light drizzle before kickoff, setting the stage on a muddy pitch.
From the opening whistle, Kisasa showed one of their most encouraging developments yet: constant vocal communication. Players called for the ball, warned of pressure, and guided each other through phases of play. Even in early attacking moments, like Calvin’s driving run through midfield, teammates were actively shaping decisions, slowing play and supporting movement. While these moments didn’t always lead to clear chances, they reflected an important foundation being built.
The first half was largely balanced, with possession turning over frequently and neither side establishing prolonged control. Kisasa edged territory, spending more time in the attacking third, while Ambassadors relied on experience in midfield. Aleki and Dan dictated play effectively, testing Kisasa’s structure, but the response from the Kisasa midfield showed grit, especially given the difficult pitch conditions.
Ambassadors opened the scoring from a corner, exposing an ongoing challenge for Kisasa in defending set pieces, particularly against taller opposition. A second goal followed from distance, slipping through the keeper’s hands. Despite this, Kisasa maintained intensity, pressing high and continuing to create opportunities, including an effort from OT that narrowly missed.
Even after every time they concede, they continue to dig their heels in and push for more attacking plays.
The response came through Calvin, who reacted quickest to a rebound from a free kick to pull one back. The game continued to open up, with moments of strong build-up play leading to a goal from Tremendous after a driven ball from the right. Kisasa also found success from a set piece, showing improvement in attacking dead-ball situations.
However, defensive lapses and offsides proved costly. Ambassadors capitalised on loose marking and transitions, adding goals through simple finishes and well-worked combinations. A missed penalty denied Kisasa the chance to close the gap further.
In the final phase, the match remained open and energetic. Taaji came close with a header, while the keeper was called into action multiple times due to loose midfield turnovers. Fatigue began to show, affecting passing accuracy, but not effort. Kisasa continued to press, overlap, and attack with intent.
Tremendous added another highlight with a composed finish, using pace and awareness to beat his defender and slot home. His partnership with Yusuf stood out: small in stature, but effective in creating moments. Kisasa pushed late, maintaining possession and pressure, but further goals conceded from corners ultimately defined the scoreline.
The match ended 6-4 to Ambassadors.
Match Summary
A high-scoring and competitive final friendly that highlighted both Kisasa FC’s progress and remaining areas for improvement. Communication, attacking intent, and resilience stood out, with the team consistently responding after setbacks. However, set-piece defending, offside awareness, and late-game concentration remain key focus areas ahead of the league opener.
